Cooking with The Romantic Prairie Cookbook

A few years ago I've watched the movie Julie & Julia and felt so inspired then, and just like Julie I have always wanted to accomplish something from start to finish. It seems to me that most of the things I have started in life have never had an end, or at least a continuous progress. It has been that way since I was in my younger years, where I have tried way to many things and I still keep on switching plans even nowadays. The only thing I know for sure is my faith in Jesus, and this isn't changing.

One of my biggest challenges so far, was to "fall in love" with my cooking skills... I have always enjoyed trying out and experimenting with things in the kitchen, but it was always for fun. Once I got married and a had a little baby I was "forced" to embrace my motherly instincts and start making a house, a home.

I have always believed in home cooking and less eating out. My mother has always been a great cook, and she thought us how to make it beautifully. We hardly ate out back in those days, not only to mention the amount of money we saved by not doing that.

It always surprises me when my closest friends ask me how often I cook, and I give them an "every day" as an answer. I guess the take out world made things easier and less motivated people in general when it comes to cooking. Of course we eat out every now and then, and we do try to keep it limited to a minimum of twice a week.

Back where I started saying I can never finish anything, I decided to challenge myself and actually try and cook all recipes in the Romantic Prairie Cookbook. So far I have tried 2 recipes, and they were just amazingly tasty.
Summer Squash Ribbons (sorry! no pictures.) and the Harvest Beef Stew. Tonight I'm trying Zucchini with Goat Cheese Tart and Grilled Chicken with Salad Leaves and Mandarin Oranges . I'll be sharing some of my original pictures, but forgive me for not sharing the recipes, I do respect the copyrights and their originality.
